Elite Development Camps -- Northeast

The Elite Development Camp -- Northeast will be held on Saturday, September 14th, 2019 at South Jersey Bullpen in Mickleton, New Jersey. The Pitcher/Catcher session will run from 9:00-12:00. The Position Player session will run from 1:00-5:00. Catchers will be participating in defensive instruction and evaluation in the Pitcher/Catcher session and will be hitting with the rest of the position players in the first half of the Position Player session. There will be a discussion regarding college baseball at 12:00 that all players and parents are welcome to attend.

Each camper will receive thorough instruction related specifically to their position as well as general strength training. Each camper will have their position-specific skills measured and results will be sent via email. These skills include pitching velocity, positional throwing velocity, exit velocity, pop times, and 60 times. The camp will be conducted by college baseball coaches across all levels of college baseball and the ratio between player and coach for an individual session will not exceed 6:1. This will ensure skill work is done in small groups and that each camper will receive individual instruction.

Each player will need to bring their own cleats, tennis shoes, gloves, bats, and helmets. Baseball attire will be worn for the camp (baseball pants, belt, etc.).

Pitcher/Catcher Session (9:00-12:00)

*Check-in will begin at 8:15 and camp will start at 9:00*

Pitchers will focus on building the necessary foundations in order to have an efficient delivery. College pitching coaches will help campers with their delivery, tempo, and rhythm. They will also be provided instruction on pitch grip variations, drill segments to enhance the delivery, and proper ways to make adjustments. Pitchers will be taken through different groups to help develop these skills and will have an opportunity to throw a bullpen at the end with coaches observing and working with them. This will be a chance to show your skillset and receive mound adjustments from a college coach.

As the nature of catching begins to shift more and more toward receiving, players will receive plenty of drill work on this, as well as blocking and throwing/footwork and technique. Catchers will work in small groups to enhance these traits and will be instructed while catching live bullpens where coaches will have a better understanding of how they catch and block with a live arm throwing. They will also have the opportunity to show their ability to throw in session one and hit in session two.

Position Player Session (1:00-5:00)

*Check-in will start at 12:30 and session will begin at 1:00*

The position player segment will start with hitting. Each position player will be broken up into small groups and brought through techniques that are used by these college coaches at their schools with their hitters. Development will include work on timing, swing plane, different hitting principles, as well as approach and mindset. Then the players will go through batting practice rounds with coaches watching and providing input. Catcher-only sign ups will be done at this point.

Position players will then be broken up by defensive position and will warm up for defensive showcase-style reps where their skills can be evaluated by the college coaches so that the necessary drills could be implemented in the following drill circuits. Players will work in small groups and will receive plenty of individual instruction throughout the session.
